Brokeback Mountain has earned critical acclaim, numerous awards and has just been nominated for eight Oscars. It is also the inspiration for one of the most clever movie trailer re-cuts I’ve ever seen.
Now, many other iconic and Academy Award winning films have been the subject of movie trailer re-cuts and some are extraordinary. Seeing The Shining presented as a romantic comedy or West Side Story as a zombie film are truly memorable.
But, nothing tugs the heartstrings like the story of a love that, alas, was never to be. Combining the soundtrack music from Brokeback Mountain and clips from the Back to the Future series, Brokeback to the Future tells the story of the ill-fated love between Marty McFly and Doc Brown. Since I posted this entry, yet another “Brokeback Mountain” parody has hit the internet. I guess when you make a groundbreaking, critically acclaimed film, it’s just good material for comedy. Anyway, check out the latest one, Star Wars: The Empire Brokeback.
